 France's first lady, model-turned-singer Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has won $57,500 (GBP37,580) in damages from a fashion company that sold bags marked with her nude photograph without her permission. The black-and-white photo of the singer was taken in 1993 - when Bruni-Sarkozy began her career as professional model - and used by fashion chain Pardon.

 Troubled country singer Mindy Mccready remains in a stable condition at a Nashville-area hospital after police said she cut her wrists and took several pills in an alleged suicide attempt, hospital officials have confirmed. A local police report said McCready's brother, Timothy, discovered the singer "very intoxicated" in her bloody bed several hours after she returned from a night out on Wednesday morning (17Dec08) and made a bizarre call to her mother.

 Black Sabbath rocker Tony Iommi is suing bosses of concert promoter Live Nation, accusing the firm of selling band memorabilia without his permission. Iommi's lawsuit, filed on Tuesday (16Dec08) at Manhattan Federal Court, alleges he had a deal with Live Nation to sell Black Sabbath branded goods - but it expired in 2006, and the company has continued to profit from the band since.

 R&B singer Akon has avoided time in jail after pleading guilty to second-degree harassment for tossing a fan off stage at a concert last summer (07). The Senegalese-American singer - real name Aliaune Thiam - was accused of picking up a teenage boy and throwing him off the stage during a concert on 3 June 2007 near Poughkeepsie, New York.

The actor disrobed for an appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman on Wednesday (17Dec08) night, reading an outlandish list of demands he is willing to say 'yes' to while sitting in a bathtub and soaping up.
