Legendary tenor Placido Domingo has teamed up with Josh Groban, Vanessa Williams and Andrea Bocelli to record a new album of songs based on poems written by the late Pope John Paul Ii. The pontiff's original Polish poems, written before his election in 1978, have been translated into English, Spanish and Italian and put to music by various composers for Domingo's new LP, Infinite Love.

A Thai festival due to be headlined by Manic Street Preachers has been cancelled - less than 24 hours before it was due to take place. The Welsh rockers were expected to take to the main stage at Bangkok 100 Rock, which kicks off on Saturday (29Nov08) - but the event has been pulled due to "circumstances beyond our control", according to festival organisers.

Australian singer and TV personality Rolf Harris has caused uproar after apologising to the Aboriginal community for racist lyrics in his 1960 song Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport - by insulting them again. The 78-year-old initially released the song Down Under with the words: "Let me Abos go loose, Lew/ Let me Abos go loose/ They're of no further use, Lew/ So let me Abos go loose".
