 Fame has lost its appeal for Sir Elton John because it cost his friends their lives. The rocker admits the thought of becoming a famous musician was very attractive when he was starting out, but now he's convinced it's a curse that kills.
He tells Parade magazine, "Princess Diana, Gianni Versace, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, all dead. Two of them shot outside their houses. None of this would have happened if they hadn't been famous. Fame attracts lunatics. "I never had a bodyguard, ever, until Gianni died. I don't like celebrity anymore."
