 A judge in Los Angeles has delayed a ruling on whether Michael Jackson's father Joe will be granted access to the superstar's medical records. The Jackson family patriarch filed papers at Los Angeles County Superior Court last month (Jan10) requesting access to the UCLA Medical Center documents in a bid to determine if anyone was to blame for the Thriller icon's death last summer (Jun09).
The request is linked to a potential lawsuit from Jackson over his son's passing. The administrators of the singer's estate lodged an objection with the court, claiming Joe is not entitled to the papers because he was not a dependent of his son and cannot sue for wrongful death. A hearing on the matter was scheduled for Thursday (11Feb10), but Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff has revealed Jackson will have a longer wait to find out if his request has been successful. Judge Beckloff delayed his ruling, asking for further time to consider the arguments put forward by Jackson's attorney. He will now announce his decision next week (beg15Feb10), according to Access Hollywood. The King of Pop's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has pleaded not guilty to a count of involuntary manslaughter after allegedly administering the powerful anaesthetic Propofol which killed the star.
