Billy Mays Found Dead in his home

I'm no big fan of Billy Mays with that annoying voice and creepy black beard but I can't argue with his success. Billy Mays died today of what may turn out to be a similar injury to which killed Natasha Richardson a few months ago.

The Pitchmen star was knocked on the head when some baggage fell from the overhead compartments during a rough landing in Tampa on Saturday. The airline is quick to point out that Mays was not wearing his seatbelt as instructed.  We'll see where this leads but it doesn't change the fact that the Discovery Channel star is gone.

It will be interesting to see how the infomercial world reacts to the death of Billy Mays, I'm sure the Oxi Clean and Impact Gel Insole folks are shaking their shoes.

Hopefully we'll still see Billy Mays Infomercials for years to come because the products aren't going anywhere. What remains to be seen is whether the products can sell and are welcomed on TV without carnival barker Billy Mays pitching the products and convincing us that we cannot live without them.
